Drug user, drug felon, formerly incarcerated, 30 years of experience in working with people who inject drugs. Founder & former executive director of Korsang, a harm reduction program in Phnom Pehn, Cambodia, staffed by deported drug users. Former executive director of San Francisco Drug User’s Union. Served as Expert Reviewer for the Global Commission on the Opioid Crisis In North America, 2017, San Francisco Mayor’s Task Force Member on Supervised Injection Facilities, 2017, United Nations Reference Group on HIV and Injecting Drug Use, 2010. Recipient of the International Carol and Travis Jenkin’s Award for making an outstanding contribution to reducing global drug related harm, 2009. Formerly served as member of The Civil Society Task Force for UNGASS 2016, chair of the Board of Directors for The International Network of People who use Drugs (INPUD) 2015, President of the Board of Directors - New England Prevention Alliance Independent Needle Exchange 2000-2004, Board member, Grace Unlimited, a therapeutic community for convicted felons, State College, PA 1994-1997. Hollis is retired, enjoying living in a cabin in Humboldt County, CA. She spends her free time 4x4ing in her FJ Cruiser, playing fetch with her two very special cats.
